Good attendance is essential to ensure students can achieve their potential. If your child is ill, please contact the school on 01543 423714 or email firstname.lastname@example.org on the first day and each consecutive day of absence to inform us of the reason for your child's absence. You will receive a text from the school to ask why your child is absent if you have not contacted us to inform us.
After the first day you may receive a home visit from Sarah Howard our Every Child Matters Co-ordinator, whose role is to support families and ensure the good attendance of the students.
The Department for Education (DfE) has announced important amendments to legislation surrounding holidays in term time.
From 1st January 2018, any period of unauthorised leave may result in you receiving a Fixed Penalty Notice. The Department for Education allows a Head Teacher the discretion to consider authorising leave of absence only in “exceptional circumstances”. If you consider that your request for leave of absence is exceptional, you will need to complete a leave of absence form which is available from the school office. A response will be sent to you as soon as possible. If the request is not considered to be an exceptional circumstance, and you nevertheless take your child out of school, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised. Any unauthorised absence will be referred by the Head Teacher to the Local Authority. Parents can receive a Fixed Penalty Notice from the Local Authority for taking their child out of school during term time without consent from the school.
