At Hednesford Valley High there are extra-curricular activities both at lunchtime and after school. We also have tutor group reward trips and whole school enrichment days.
At lunchtimes students have the choice of going out on to the playground to socialise with their friends or to attend a lunchtime club.
There are a variety of clubs such as I-pad, computers, football, Dr Who, colouring etc – see the lunch time clubs. These clubs encourage interaction between peers, working together as a group and personal and social development.
After school clubs that can be taken part in are computers, sing and sign, music and a youth club.
As part of the curriculum students have a reward system where they can gain points for good work and behaviour. If sufficient points are achieved by the end of the term students are taken on a reward trip. This may be an outing on to Cannock Chase, the cinema, bowling, cycling, Water World or to a restaurant. These trips all help the students to develop social skills and access the community.
One day a term the whole school take part in an Enrichment Day. These are usually themed days such as Health and Fitness, Anti-bullying and Work Related Learning. Students choose to take part in activities across the school.
