Moving Forward - Lifeskills Programme - firstname.lastname@example.org - Upto a possible 56 hours of individual support is available from our Moving Forward programme to help young people with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) towards achieving their dreams or goals and develop essential lifeskills for their future. To take part, young people must be 11-18 years old with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) and live in Staffordshire. Young people up to the age of 25 can also take part if they have and Education Health and Care Plan and are not already accessing Adult Social Care Services. Support is FREE however young people may need to pay for some activities accessed as part of this. Full details are available here.
Cinema Exhibitors Card - www.cinemauk.org.uk – CEA-Card. DLA proof required, photograph and a fee of £6.00 for 1 year. Allows someone to accompany the person shown on the card to the cinema FREE of charge. Download the application form from the website.
Family Fund - www.familyfund.org.uk – helping families raising a disabled child or young person with additional complex needs and serious illness by providing grants for things such as washing machines, fridges, computers and Haven or Butlins Holidays. Nominations can be made by a parent or carer of a young person up to 15 usually every 12 months from the date of the last grant. Nomination is also required by someone in a professional capacity who knows your child (teacher etc).
Listening Books - www.listening-books.org.uk – free membership available for disabled people or people with learning disabilities. Proof of DLA required.
Merlins Magic Wand - www.merlinsmagicwand.org – free tickets available for seriously ill, disabled or disadvantaged children (2-18 years) for any Merlin Entertainments Group attractions such as Alton Towers, Chessington, Sea Life, Blackpool Tower, Thorpe Park, Warwick Castle, Legoland etc. Apply on line between specific hours. Children with a learning disability must be in receipt of a Statement of Special Educational needs and have proof of this BEFORE you apply). NOTE DLA AWARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. Applications are welcomed by parents, carers or organisations which work with the children.
Short Breaks (Aiming High) In Staffordshire - Email: email@example.com – activity guide by email subscription. Activities are open to children and young people with a disability/additional need up to and including 17 years old who live in Staffordshire. Parents and siblings are also welcome to take part in some activities. The majority of Aiming High activities are free; however a voluntary contribution is requested by some providers.
