What is the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)?
DofE is A life-changing experience that provides 14–24-Year-olds an opportunity to discover new interests and talents. whilst also being a tool to develop essential skills for life and work and a recognised mark of achievement; respected by employers.
The DofE programme can be completed at one of three progressive levels: Bronze, Silver or Gold. Each carrying section awards in physical skills, volunteering skill, improving, or learning a new skill along with the completion of an expedition.
Any young person can do their DofE – regardless of ability, gender, background, or location. Achieving an Award isn’t a competition or about being first. It’s all about setting personal challenges and pushing personal boundaries.
Through a DofE programme young people have fun, make friends, improve their self-esteem, and build confidence gaining essential skills and attributes for work and life such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working and communication skills.
Completing a DofE award at any level can help to enhance your CV and job applications.
