Curriculum Area Learning Supervisor (Grade 5) x 2 positions – To start Monday 14th November 2022 or sooner.  This is a permanent term-time only position. – The actual starting salary is £17,327

Working hours are Mon-Thurs 8:30-4:30 pm and Fri 8:30-4:00 pm

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit 2 x Grade 5 Curriculum Area Learning Supervisor (Classroom Support Assistant) to join our highly motivated support staff team at Hednesford Valley High School.  This role involves working in the Complex Needs Department under the direction of a teaching member of staff to support in the classroom and produce resources.  You will also be required to run an after-school club.  This role would suit someone with an education or a care home background.

 

We require a flexible and creative individual who:-

  •  Has very good numeracy/literacy skills equivalent to GCSE C and above.
  • Has NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or recognised equivalent qualification or willing to gain the qualification.
  • Has excellent communication skills with students, parents/carers and professionals.
  • Can use ICT to support and enhance teaching and learning.
  • Can act as Cover Supervisor during the absence of teaching staff.
  • Will be involved in supporting students with their personal care and medical needs e.g. enteral feeding,
  • administering medication and suction if required – training will be given.
  • Has a passionate commitment to raising the attainment of all students in a special school.
  • A team player who is able to work collaboratively with others.
  • This role can change to work across the school/sites with other student groups if required.

Attendance Officer (Grade 4) - To start 14th November 2022 - Starting Salary: £16,987 (pending a pay review)

Hours of work: 37 hours – Mon-Tues 08:30 am to 16:30 pm. Fri 08:30-16:00 pm

(The successful applicant is required to start at 8:30 am however, there is flexibility in the finishing time, should you require an earlier finish).

 Hednesford Valley High is seeking to appoint an Attendance Officer.  The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a school environment and have an understanding of the issues that may affect a student’s ability to attend school.  You will work alongside members of the Senior Leadership Team and the Educational Welfare Officer.  The role will involve monitoring student attendance, contacting parents/carers re. nonattendance, producing attendance letters, charts and reports and may involve home-visits.

 The role is primarily dealing with student attendance; however, a proportion of the contracted hours will also be spent supporting the administration of the school office which will include Reception cover and data inputting.

We require a flexible and organized individual who: -

  • Has experience of working in an office environment, preferably a school office.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Has excellent ICT skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Has excellent organisational skills,
  • Has excellent communication skills to liaise with staff, students, parents/carers and external professionals.
  • Has very good numeracy/literacy skills equivalent to GCSE C and above.
  • A team player who is able to work collaboratively with others.

Hednesford Valley High is a good generic secondary special school with a split site provision.  Students in Year 7-11 are based at the Hednesford Valley High, Stanley Road Site, and students in Years 12-14 are based in E block at Cannock Chase High.  The school caters for a wide range of students, many with more than one area of SEN.  All staff are totally committed to providing excellent teaching and learning to empower students to become independent citizens of the world.
